Laky Augustakis (Director)

Laky is a seasoned veteran in the food service industry with 25 years experience running various food related businesses. Born in Brisbane, good food and good company were never in short supply.

Laky has owned and run several restaurants, Cafe Bonito in Bulimba, Seafood on Tarra in Tarragindi and Oceans Seafood in Mansfield.

Laky established and owned Oz Grown Wholesalers, a fresh fruit and vegetable wholesale company based in the Rocklea Markets. This company serviced many top restaurants and cafes throughout the Brisbane area, as well as exporting produce overseas.

Laky managed the Foodworks supermarket in Belmont, with a focus on fresh produce and customer service.

Laky has a great love and appreciation for quality foods and good wine. His passion for good food has led him to travel various parts of Australia, America and Europe to experience unique foods, styles of cooking and cultures, and of course the odd shiraz or beer.

His philosophy on food, “Make the food and present it the way you would love to eat it.” Laky says he gets great satisfaction in people experiencing pleasure from their meals and the experience of sharing a meal with friends.

Laky’s other great passion is sports, but particularly football (soccer). I follow many teams in various countries but Arsenal (English Premier League) is my team and of course the Queensland Roar.

Laky has been married to his lovely wife Maria for 8 years and together look after their pet Gizmo, a Lhasa Apsos, who is like family and demands the same respect.

Like Desi, Laky is also concerned that people with various dietary ailments and requirements miss out on the variety, flavours and quality that should be available in the foods they enjoy. Hence, his partnership with Desi and Martin to create JUS gourmet meals means he can service those limited in what they can eat to still eat with style.
